Expired make-up is something you should definitely throw away! Although it may be tempting to hold on to, it isn’t good for your skin and there isn’t a point in keeping it if you haven’t been using it.
Blankets are so nice and cozy, but you may consider condensing your blanket collection if it’s beginning to take over your home. Keep the nicest and newest ones and then donate the rest!
If you have a collection of chargers and you have no idea what they belong to, it may be a good idea to get rid of a few. Any charger you haven’t used in months is probably worth tossing.
Purge some of your kitchen utensils. Forks, knives, and spoons always seem to gather in the kitchen. Go through your kitchen drawers to rid your self of bent, ugly, worn, or unnecessary utensils.
It’s tempting to hold onto sweet greeting cards from family and friends or to read nice things people have said about you, but these can take up quite a bit of space. It’ll feel just as good to eliminate the clutter in your home as it did to receive a card on a special day.
Perfume and cologne are nice to have, but when you start to collect the bottles or keep just a tiny bit of spray at the bottom, you should get rid of it. Use the last little bit of your perfume to make your clothes in your closet, your car, or other items smell good.
Artificial plants can make a nice edition to your home, but sometimes they start to get old and don’t look as nice anymore. If your plants are covered in dust, the leaves are sagging, or it just looks sad, toss it!
Get rid of the board games in your house with missing cards or game pieces! If it’s just one or two, and you can find a substitute piece, then do it but otherwise just get rid of the game.
Kids’ art projects are great to have, but if you collect too many it will start to feel like an overwhelming amount of clutter. If throwing them away isn’t an option (and for most parents, is it really?) store them in a plastic bin under your bed or in your closet.
Clothes always come with extra buttons, but after a while, you can probably get rid of them. Use them to make craft projects, find another way to recycle them, or at least keep them in a box all in one spot so they aren’t everywhere in your home.
Throw away your old calendars! They won’t do you any good when they are outdated (pun intended). If you are worried about throwing them out because of lots of personal information inside, rip them up well or shred them.
Thin out your wallet by getting rid of old membership cards, punch cards, and other items in your wallet that you don’t use anymore. You will have so much space!
DVDs are great but inside the boxes they can take up so much space. Put your DVDs in a condensed case and get rid of the individual movie cases.
Free magnets are everywhere! Although it’s good advertising for different companies, they can bombard your fridge. Get rid of some of your magnets so your fridge isn’t cluttered.
Old sunscreen needs to go! Not only can it clog up your pores in your skin, it is also bad because it won’t work as effectively and you’ll be more likely to burn.
Also toss out any expired medicines or supplements you might have. If it is past the expiration date, the potency will change and it can be dangerous to consume them.
Get rid of your old magazines! You can get them online if you actually want to read all of them which won’t add clutter to your home. Keep a few for decor and to read occasionally but then recycle the rest.
Tupperware is one of the greatest inventions around, but if your cabinets are overflowing, then you can probably reduce your collection. Donate or recycle all of the extras you have.
When you have pens that don’t work anymore and the ink is all dried out, don’t put them back in your collection of pens! Just throw them out! There is no use in putting them back and then having to sort through to find pens that work.
Jewelry is so much fun to have, but don’t hold on to the outdated pieces you never wear anymore. If something is out of style, get rid of it rather than hoping it will come back one day.
If you or your kids have a bunch of old textbooks lying around, make some room on your bookshelf and get rid of them. Try to look online to see if you can sell them back and get some extra money, and chances are, you definitely can!
If your loofah hasn’t been changed out in a long time, it needs to go. It can start to grow bacteria especially if it doesn’t get completely dry between uses. Either throw it in a wash cycle or replace it with a new one since they are usually inexpensive to begin with.
Seasonal decor is a fun way to change up the scenery in your home. Some holiday or seasonal decor can start to get old or out of style though, so make sure to sort through yours and donate the items you don’t like or use anymore.
Throw away old food! This might sound like common sense, especially when it comes to food in your refrigerator. Try to also go through your dry foods though too and toss things that have expired, been open for too long, or you know you won’t eat.
Get rid of your old receipts. They are so tempting to hang on to, but after a while they will do you know good. Try to toss out the ones you don’t need anymore and then organize the ones you still need to hang on to.
